This ambitious novel follows Eveline Auerbach from her high school years in 1970s East Hampton, NyC, through her early adulthood in 1980s moneyed, high-pressure Manhattan. Focusing on Evie's fragile family relationships and thwarted affair with boxer Harrison Rourke, the novel is both a love story and an exploration of the difficulty of finding one's place in the world. Yet though she stumbles and strains against convention, Evie remains a strong yet sensitive observer, finding beauty and meaning in unexpected places.
